Tata
Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate holding company
headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was founded in 1868 by
Jamsetji Tata and gained international recognition after purchasing
several global companies. It is India's largest conglomerate. In 2015-16, the revenue of Tata companies, taken together, is $103.51 billion. These companies collectively employ over 660,000 people. Each Tata company or enterprise operates independently under the
guidance and supervision of its own board of directors and shareholders.
There are 30 publicly-listed Tata enterprises with a combined market
capitalisation of about $116 billion as of March 2016. Tata companies with significant scale include Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Global Beverages, Tata Teleservices, Titan, Tata Communications and Taj Group.

Zoroastrian family in Navsari then part of the princely state of
Baroda. He founded what would later become the Tata Group of companies. Tata is regarded as the legendary "Father of Indian Industry.
